She fought elegantly against three types of cancers, and then let us know when she thought it was time to leave. Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful she let us hold her life in our hands for over two decades.
Close now
Well, sadly we have made an appointment for Harrietās escort to the Rainbow Bridge for tomorrow afternoon. A hospice vet will come to our home and we will do it outside in the yard that Harriet has spent so much time in (on laps or in a carriage; she was always an indoor only kitty). Here she is just a few minutes ago, licking her catnip fishy in her carriage in the yard.
Time is short
Harrietās cancer is not responding well to treatment. Her time is short.
A love for the ages!
Here are Harriet and Abbie, one of our small terriers. Ā Those of you who read my other posts in the forums know that Abbie recently snuck into Harrietās recovery pen and ate out of her litter boxā¦resulting in an ER visit and induced-vomiting. Ā Abbie had a full 3 tablespoons of clumping litter in her gut, so we are lucky we got her there before it got too far through her system.
Abbie is Harrietās #1 fan, and shows her love for Harriet in more ways than just eating her litter (ugh!). She loves to snuggle up at any opportunity. Harriet usually tolerates Abbie but is less than thrilled about her. Here, we catch Harriet actually snuggling in with Abbie (and yes, apparently Abbie has borrowed one of Harrietās recovery onesies. Isnāt borrowing clothes another sign of devotion)?
Getting ready for sleepytime
Because of the weather, weāve had fans running nonstop. Ā Because Harriet had half of her fur, practically, shaved off for surgery, we donāt want her to get a chill at night. So, she is wearing a baby onesie or a tshirt at night! This one has a whale on it and says āIām a pretty big deal,ā which we think is both true and hilarious.
